The water trail leads from the source of the Flem stream past unique gorge landscapes down to the village centre of Flims. You cross seven bridges, some of them boldly designed by the well-known Graubünden bridge architect Jürg Conzett. Follow the Connbächli, one of the oldest, longest and still water-bearing ditches in Flims, for approx. 5 km on this idyllic family hiking trail. Start at Flims Waldhaus (Lake Cauma car park, NOT suitable for strollers). The observation platform “Il Spir” (Rhaeto Romansh for Eurasian swift) offers the visitor a unique 180-degree panoramic view over the Ruinaulta, often referred to as the “Swiss Grand Canyon”. The platform consists of a single pillar that is anchored in two places and leans over the gorge. Excavations in the 1940s provided evidence of a Bronze Age settlement in Falera and many finds such as pottery, grinding stones, sickles and jewelry from the 2nd millennium BC. On a walk over the prehistoric settlement mound, you will discover shell stones and column-like boulders of unknown function.
